The goal of the MOR project was to develop a system that would raise the quality of health care while lowering costs by reducing the need for hospitalization, and the time lost by workers through early detection and more accurate diagnosis. MOR has proven to be a dramatic success in the industry saving hundreds of millions of dollars every year, and has become the model for implementing higher standards in medical care while lowering delivery costs.St. Jerome Institute, Quebec Canada, 1965 - 1978. A 600-bed residential facility for developmentally disabled and emotionally disturbed children and adolescents, pioneering the application of the group psychotherapy paradigm to the creation of a large scale therapeutic community.
Henri Bourassa Institute, Quebec Canada, 1964 – 1978. 160-bed residential facility specializing in profoundly developmentally and physically disabled children and adolescents.
St. Rose Institute, Quebec Canada, 1957 - 78. A 90-bed residential community for young adults with developmentally and emotional disabilities.
Rosemere Institute, Quebec Canada, 1960 - 1978. A 200-bed residential facility for adults with developmental disabilities. Rosemere set the standard for how a residential institution could function as warm therapeutic community.
Shawbridge Institute, Quebec Canada, 1962 - 1978. An 80-bed co-educational residential facility for young adults, employing the operational design of a rural community, featuring an extensive array of educational and athletic programs.
Ville Saint Pierre Institute, Quebec Canada, 1965 - 1978. A 450 - bed residential facility specializing in extensive programs for developmentally disabled and emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. Programs developed at the Institute in Ville Saint Pierre have been integrated into curriculums of universities and, research components of the World Health Organization.
Carillon Institute, Quebec Canada, 1967 - 1978. A 181 - bed residential facility for young men and women with developmental disabilities featuring extensive greenhouse plant and flower production, maple syrup production, iron and wood crafts. Residents of Carillon repeatedly excelled in the Special Olympics.
Chomedy Institute, Quebec Canada, 1969 - 1978. A 120-bed residential community for young women known for extensive educational curriculum, vocational programs and crafts.
Chambley Institute, Quebec Canada, 1970 - 1978. A 220-bed facility providing education curriculum, athletic, fitness programs and cultural activities to developmentally disabled young adults.
Gouin Institute, Quebec Canada, 1972 - 1978. 180-bed residential community for adolescent girls with developmental disabilities, and a clinical setting for interns in social work, psychology and psychiatry.
Millis Academy, Millis Massachusetts, 1965 – 1969. A 36-bed model residential community for developmentally disabled children.
Transmed Corporation, 1979 - 1991. A mobile medical diagnostic company providing and managing services to hospitals and clinics in the areas of mammography, abdominal ultrasound, Holter analysis, echocardiography and blood flow. Clients included Anchor HMO, Humana, Bethany, Augustan, Children’s Memorial, among numerous other medical institutions and group practices.
Oconomowoc Developmental Training Center, 1977 - 1981. A Wisconsin model residential campus for 120 children and adolescents with developmental and emotional disabilities.
Homes for Independent Living, 1977 - 1981. A therapeutic community of homes for 45 adolescent and young adults with developmental and emotional disabilities.
Hospital and Institutional Management Corporation -VITAL Cardiac Rehabilitation Centers, 1976 - 1979. Established the first centers for cardiac rehabilitation in major hospitals and medical centers in the Midwest including Lutheran General Hospital, Rush Northshore, Ravenswood Hospital, Copley Hospital, Hinsdale Hospital and Ingalls Hospital in Harvey Illinois, through development and consultancy contracts.
MOR Medical Diagnostic Center, 1975 - 1978. Developed the joint venture Medical Diagnostic Center (MOR) with the National Healthcare System (NHF/Kupat Cholim), a paragovernment agency of the Health Ministry of the State of Israel. The computerized multiphasic Medical Diagnostic center is the largest in the world, currently treating over 50,000 patients per month. After completing the development and management contract in 1978, the joint
Manoir Pierrefond, 1968 - 1979. Built in the French speaking province of Quebec, this luxury retirement community and skilled nursing facility of 81 suites was developed for geriatric and psychoneurological care and rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and related dementia’s. Residential services featured cutting-edge medical and therapeutic programs, exquisite provincial interior design and health-modified French gourmet cuisine in a lakeside setting.
Yalentay Medical Geriatric Center, 1978 - present. A not-for-profit, philanthropic skilled nursing facility in Cuernavaca, Mexico, specializing in Alzheimer’s and related psychoneurological conditions.
Community Retirement Living (CRL), 1982 – present. Develops, owns and operates Community-Based Retirement Facilities/group homes for seniors.
Rechmed, 1992 - 1995. Structured, obtained the financing, directed and managed all phases of multi-million dollar public issue for research and development using Canadian provincial and federal tax structures. Rechmed developed a number of innovative technology products for the healthcare industry including:
- A cardiac monitoring system using trans-telephonic technology.
- A miniaturized/beeper-size, digital EKG transmitter designed to telephonically transmit real-time EKG to facilitate early interventions in cardiac arrest to maximize the effectiveness of interventions.
- A mattress-sensing system designed to prevent bed sores which included the development of a computerized pressure monitoring system to detect how pressure is distributed against the body in bed-ridden patients.
The research and development for these projects was carried out in conjunction with the Centre de Réserch Hospitalier de Université du Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke University Medical Center.
Laval Geriatric Center, Montreal, Canada, 1990 - 1992. Retained by a European financial consortium to design and procure all government licenses for a 286-unit multi-disciplinary long-term residential care facility. The complex included three resident populations for independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care.
Dorval Geriatric Center, Montreal, Canada, 1988 - 1992. Retained by a European financial consortium to plan a 144-bed chronic care facility for Alzheimer's and related dementia patients. Responsible for project design and procurement of governmental licenses and the development of initial operating systems.
Valley View Real Estate Development, San Diego, California, 1985 - 1986. Development of a 40-acre subdivision of luxury equestrian home sites that included executive homes and estates valued from $700,000 to over $1 million. Provided comprehensive subdivision planning, project conceptualization, site acquisition, mapping, engineering and construction management.
Yalentay Rehabilitation Center, Cuernavaca, Mexico, and Los Angeles, 1982 - 1985. Established a full multi-disciplinary substance abuse treatment facility with primary responsibility for developing a marketing plan to attract patients from the United States. Responsibilities included strategic planning, design, financing and implementation. As part of the project, a plan was initiated to provide a myriad of services at a lower per diem cost than facilities in the United States. As a result of the program effectiveness, patients were referred to the Center by U.S. insurance companies, hospitals and specialized facilities such as the Betty Ford Center in Palm Springs, California.
Maravilla, 1997 - 2001. Designed and developed the nation’s first residential retirement resort community engineered for regions characterized by inclement weather conditions. This community integrates the world’s largest residential glass-topped rainforest park designed to produce ideal climate through the long winters and hot summer months. Additionally, it incorporates health and longevity enhancing features including extensive spa, fitness, social, cultural and entertainment amenities within biopsychosocially informed architecture and interior design.
CURRENT PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT:
Bayshore by the Lake is a joint venture between ANDEV and Ganther Construction. The partnership owns a waterfront site in Oshkosh, WI that is zoned for up to 48 units of residential housing. The partnership is currently designing a project for empty nesters and is anticipating a spring, 2003 construction start. The project will be developed in two stages. Phase I will be 29 units. The development will be the premier luxury senior development in Oshkosh. Prices will range from $150,000 to $300,000 per unit.
LaSalle Place is a uniquely designed high-end four unit townhouse development in Highland Park, IL. Prices range between $575,000 and $1,600,000. The project is in the construction phase with the first unit to be delivered in January, 2003. LaSalle Place is one block south of the downtown Highland Park train station. Highland Park has become one of Chicagoland’s most sought after self-contained neighborhoods, with amenities such as an extensive selection of restaurants, a fine arts movie theater, and upscale retail shopping.
Highland Pointe is a medical office suite building development in Highland Park, IL. The design integrates the surrounding landscape features and excellent light. Highland Pointe is also within the burgeoning Highland Park renaissance, and shares the many amenities that the area offers. Highland Pointe is in proximity of both Highland Park Hospital and Lake Forest Hospital, the two most highly respected facilities on the North Shore.
Countryside Senior Living is Sioux City, Iowa’s leading private continuing care retirement community. It consists of 160 nursing home beds and 62 independent living apartments. The property is currently being redeveloped and managed by ANDEV’s health care group (ARCOM). The expansion includes a 36 bed Medicare/Medicaid wing and additional independent living units.
Ravinia Park Place is a three story luxury condominium unit Ravinia, Highland Park, IL. It also includes 2400 square foot of retail space. The project is scheduled to commence construction in March, 2003. The residences will be priced between $400,000 and $700,000 each.
Community Retirement Living (a wholly owned subsidiary of ANDEV) owns and operates group homes in smaller cities in Wisconsin. The group homes specialize in caring for the frail elderly. The company is currently in an expansion phase and will be adding to its portfolio of low cost senior housing projects in the Kenosha, Racine and Sheboygan markets.
